Qualified and experienced Dog Trainer
Instructor: I am Rebecca Watford and I have 13 years of dog training and teaching experience. I acquired a wide range of skills by working with many breeds and have mentored under the best obedience trainers in the Southeast. I attend classes and seminars to stay abreast of the most current and effective methods of training. As a member of Five Flags dog training club, I have served as Training Director, instructor, and board member. I am a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and the Doberman Pinscher Club of America.
In 1999 I started competing in obedience, and a few years later added agility. My Doberman’s have earned the Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) obedience title, Working Aptitude Certification (WAC), Agility Excellent (AX) and Agility Excellent Jumpers (AXJ) titles among others. My Toy Fox Terrier “Flirt” recently earned her Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) making her the 7th Toy Fox Terrier in history to achieve this. In addition, several of my Dobermans and my Toy Fox Terrier worked as Pet Therapy dogs.
After you complete your basic foundation training, I am able to effectively assist you, should you choose to, seek information for Pet Therapy, Agility, Obedience competition, Fly Ball, Search and Rescue or any other activity. These fun and challenging sports benefit the dog both physically and mentally since many breeds were bred to be active and work with their owners.
I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love; many times training makes all the difference between a dog keeping his home or going to the shelter. I bring my experience with a variety of breeds, my enthusiasm, and my love of dogs to each session. I look forward to meeting you and your dog!
If you don’t train your dog, your dog will train you!
Assistant Instructor: We are so fortunate to have Melissa helping out. Assistants are valuable in helping the class run smoothly by allowing personal, extra attention to the students. Melissa Keyser pictured with her Pit Bull “Kain”. At their very first obedience competition, Melissa and Kain won the Rally Novice A class 3 straight times earning her RN title. This was her first time ever competing and did a fantastic job. This was no surprise to me, because I could see what a special trainer she was from the start. She is very dog savvy, has excellent timing and is excellent at zeroing in on a problem and it’s solution. I am lucky to have her assisting in Best Paw Forward classes.
