Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

The AKC's Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.   This program is available to both mix breeds and pure breeds, any dog can earn a CGC.  The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club suitable for framing.  The CGC is a requirement before entering many therapy dog programs such as the national Delta Society.

I am a certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator.  In November 2004, the AKC raised the standards for evaluators and a testing process was implemented.  We usually hold a CGC test several times a year.  Usually an optional 2-3 week class is held to help the students learn the CGC skills and brush up on their manners.   Call or email for more information
